LIMA, Dec 7 (NNN-ANDINA) – The implementation of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Peru and United States has reached “cruising speed” and maybe implemented in August as schedule, Peruvian Ambassador to the United States Luis Valdivieso.
The implementation process of the trade agreement is experiencing good progress and has reached cruising speed and that is why we expect to concludeit before August,? he told Andina.
He said since Jan this year, both governments increased their cooperation to finish the entire process in 18 months and everything indicates that it will happen that way.
The forestry issue is one of the most intensively worked by both governments, with constant meetings among Peruvian and American technicians,? he added.
He said that in July, Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) have officially established the Forestry Management Subcommittee, as part of requirements outlined in the Trade Promotion Agreement between Peru and the US. — NNN-ANDINA
