“US activist circles globe to fight biotech crops” was put out by Reuters and picked up in a number of other media outlets on Friday 7 March. "US activistische kringen wereld voor de bestrijding van biogewassen" werd door Reuters en opgevangen in een aantal andere media, op vrijdag 7 maart. You have to take a minute to read it because there are just so many things wrong. U neemt een minuut om het te lezen omdat er zo veel dingen fout.

I guess I have a hard time understanding why so much attention would be given to someone, Jeffrey Smith in this case, who is making claims that have no basis like "GMOs have been linked to thousands of toxic and allergic-type reactions, thousands of sick, sterile and dead livestock and damage to virtually every organ and system studied in lab animals…" Ik vrees dat ik het nog moeilijk krijgen om inzicht waarom er zoveel aandacht zou worden gegeven aan iemand, Jeffrey Smith in deze zaak, die maakt dat er geen basis als "GGO's die zijn verbonden met duizenden giftige en allergie-achtige reacties, duizenden ziek, steriel en dood vee en schade aan vrijwel elk systeem en orgel studeerde in lab dieren… "

Seriously, where does this stuff come from and why is it the media will quote it from him without anything to back it up? Echt, waar komt dat spul vandaan komen en waarom is dat de media zal het citaat van hem, zonder iets te back it up? The guy has no scientific background, training nor basis for what he says. De man heeft geen wetenschappelijke achtergrond, opleiding, noch basis voor wat hij zegt. He’sa professional activist, this is how he makes his living – the more he scares people the more he makes! Hij is een professionele activist, dit is de manier waarop hij zijn brood - hoe meer hij de angst van de mensen meer die hij maakt! His sort of hyperbole is wrong and it is dangerous. Zijn soort van overdrijving is verkeerd en het is gevaarlijk. Yet the media in a quite unhelpful way gave the article a title that makes it sound like Smith is the hero out to travel the dangerous world to save us all. Maar de media in een nogal onhandig manier geeft het artikel een titel dat maakt het klinken als Smith is de held uit te reizen de gevaarlijke wereld te redden ons allen. But I think we’re all just fine without his help. Maar ik denk dat we allemaal prima zonder zijn hulp.

Maybe Jeffrey Smith got his information from the same place I did- from Monsanto's own research which was published on their own website. Misschien Jeffrey Smith kreeg zijn informatie uit dezelfde plaats heb ik-van Monsanto het eigen onderzoek dat is gepubliceerd op hun eigen website. Not without a reason... Niet zonder reden ... A lot of reports that rats are ill due to feeding on gm-food. Veel van de verslagen dat ratten ziek zijn als gevolg van het eten van genetisch gemodificeerde levensmiddelen.

Fear sells. Angst verkoopt. This is the new montra of journalism (unfortunately). Dit is de nieuwe montra van de journalistiek (helaas). Gone are the days of verification before publication. Voorbij zijn de dagen van de keuring vóór de publicatie. Oh wait, it seems telling the truth about GM crops and food require extrodinary levels of confirmation before the fascts can be run along side the pseudo-science scare stories. Oh wacht, lijkt het vertellen van de waarheid over genetisch gemodificeerde gewassen en voedsel nodig extrodinary niveaus van bevestiging voordat de fascts kunnen worden uitgevoerd naast de pseudo-wetenschap bang voor verhalen. And we wonder why the public has no idea what is fact and what is fiction. En vragen we ons af waarom het publiek heeft geen idee wat is feit en wat is fictie. Look straight at the main stream media for the cause! Kijk direct op de mainstream media voor de zaak!
