The latest WTO Trade Policy Review of US trade policy provides an informed outsider’s view of US trade policy. De meest recente WTO Trade Policy Review van het Amerikaanse handelsbeleid geeft een buitenstaander de hoogte is van mening van het Amerikaanse handelsbeleid. The general conclusions are that the US has one of the world’s most open economies, but market access restrictions and subsidies remain in important areas, including agriculture. De algemene conclusies zijn dat de VS heeft een van 's werelds meest open economieën, maar de toegang tot de markt beperkingen en subsidies blijven in belangrijke gebieden, waaronder de landbouw.

Actions at the recently completed meeting of the 132 countries that are parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety have again raised issues on the costs of compliance for international environmental regulations. Acties op het onlangs voltooide vergadering van de 132 landen die partij zijn bij het Protocol van Cartagena inzake bioveiligheid hebben opnieuw zaken aan de orde gesteld over de kosten van de naleving van internationale milieuregelgeving. By 2012 documents for commodities that now “may contain” Live Modified Organisms (LMOs) will need to identify and quantify the amount of LMOs. In 2012 documenten voor grondstoffen die nu "kan bevatten" Live gemodificeerde organismen (LMO's) zullen moeten identificeren en kwantificeren van het bedrag van VLO's. The costs of testing for LMOs are only part of the burden of redesigning food chains and increased shipping costs when testing problems develop. De kosten voor het testen van de VLO's vormen slechts een deel van de lasten van het herinrichten van de voedselketens en de toegenomen verzendkosten bij het testen van problemen ontwikkelen.

The failure of trade negotiators for the US, EU, Japan, Brazil, India and Australia to achieve significant breakthroughs on groundwork for a new WTO agreement at two days of meetings in London that ended last Saturday night should make analysts begin to think about a deal not being completed. De mislukking van de handel onderhandelaars van de VS, EU, Japan, Brazilië, India en Australië aan het bereiken van een significante doorbraken op basis gelegd voor een nieuw WTO-akkoord in twee dagen van de vergaderingen in Londen, waarmee een einde kwam afgelopen zaterdag avond moeten maken analisten gaan nadenken over een deal niet worden voltooid. Moving toward more open trade is important even without a new WTO agreement prompting change. Verhuizen naar meer open handel is belangrijk, ook zonder dat een nieuw WTO-akkoord waarschuwing veranderen.

President Bush’s recent trip to India and the agreements signed there are indicators of new foreign policy and trade relationships between the US and India. President Bush's recente reis naar India en de ondertekende overeenkomsten zijn er nieuwe indicatoren van het buitenlands beleid en de handelsrelaties tussen de VS en India. These improved relations may result in increased US agricultural exports. Deze verbeterde betrekkingen kan resulteren in verhoogde VS de export van landbouwproducten. For the third year in a row the Chinese government has made economic development in rural areas a top economic issue for the National People’s Congress when it meets later this month. Voor het derde jaar op rij de Chinese overheid heeft de economische ontwikkeling in landelijke gebieden een top-economisch probleem voor het Nationale Volkscongres, wanneer het voldoet aan later deze maand. The general approach has been to see income problems in rural areas as political and social problems rather than as economic problems that have economic solutions and international trade implications. De algemene benadering is te zien inkomen problemen op het platteland als politieke en sociale problemen en niet als economische problemen die de economische oplossingen en internationale handel.
