The Daily Telegraph (UK) newspaper has an article you absolutely must read from November 25 titled France demands £7bn farm subsidies before talks begin – basically it’s summed up in the first sentence “ Restricted documents seen by The Daily Telegraph, show Paris will demand subsidies to French farmers are protected before agreeing to allow global free trade talks to take place next month. ” It goes on to say “ diplomats say France, which currently holds the EU's rotating presidency, is using its position to hold the EU to ransom by linking protection for French farmers to the reopening of talks. ” The Daily Telegraph (UK) krant een artikel dat u absoluut moet lezen vanaf 25 november de titel Frankrijk eisen £ 7bn landbouwsubsidies voor gesprekken beginnen - in wezen het is samengevat in de eerste zin "Niet-openbare documenten gezien door The Daily Telegraph, Parijs show zal vraag subsidies aan Franse boeren beschermd worden alvorens toe te staan een vrijere wereldhandel de besprekingen voor de volgende maand plaatsvinden. The pirates off Somalia have been the media darling as of late with their brazen activity. De piraten de kust van Somalië hebben de media als lieveling van te laat met hun brutale activiteit. In typical media fashion, they're the 'flavor of the month' with numerous articles, editorials and news coverage - especially after their hi-jacking of the Aramco oil tanker which of course tends to catch attention. There may not have been a lot of apparent concrete achievements from the top industrialized G20 nations recent gathering in Washington addressing the global economic woes.  But the call from many to move foward with the Doha talks on trade and to resist protectionism during these difficult times should be seen as more than just symbolic. Er zijn mogelijk niet veel concrete resultaten zichtbaar vanaf de top geïndustrialiseerde naties G20 recente bijeenkomst in Washington het aanpakken van de wereldwijde economische problemen. Maar de oproep van veel te bewegen naar voren met de Doha-onderhandelingen over handel en het protectionisme te weerstaan tijdens deze moeilijke tijden moet worden gezien als meer dan alleen maar symbolisch.
