Thanks to an outcry from those in the ag community, Pilot Travel Centers has suspended all future donations to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

Feedstuffs.com reports that, after discovering that Pilot Travel Centers was making donations to HSUS, hundreds of farmers mobilized on Twitter to flood the brand’s Facebook page in protest. What developed was a debate on Pilot’s Facebook page between supporters of HSUS and farmers.

In a statement issued Friday, Pilot said it fully supports the interests of the agricultural community and “will not support any organization that has an agenda that works against agricultural interests.” Pilot Travel Centers has over 300 locations in more than 40 states.

A similar situation occurred earlier this year when ag community protests helped convince Yellow Tail Wine to pull its support of HSUS.
