Jim Wiesemeyer, vice president of farm and trade policy for Informa Economics, says there appears to be no clear front-runner for the Secretary of Agriculture cabinet post. Wiesemeyer thinks President-elect Barak Obama's picks for other postions at USDA will be just as important as the top job. "The Ag Secretary really spends 60 percent of his or her time outside the department giving speeches; it's really the Deputy Secretary that is the glue that holds the department together." Wiesemeyer points to the important role Deputy Secretary Chuck Conner has had in the current Administration. Add as favourites (19) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 165
