WTO.org Chairperson Crawford Falconer on 30 April 2008 accepted some members’ renewed request for more time before he produces another revision of the draft “modalities”, the blueprint for the final deal. He scheduled more meetings on Thursday and Friday 8–9 May to discuss the latest proposal on “sensitive products”, assess progress in tropical and preference products, and decide what to do next. As a result, his next revision will now definitely not be circulated before the week of 12 May, he said in this meeting of the full membership. But the tight schedule represents a compromise between members wanting longer and those who do not want to wait any more, and reflects the time pressure all are under.
