International Biotech Leaders Explore Major Food and Agriculture Issues
Currently Impacting U.S. and the Globe

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 7, 2008) - Major global issues, such as sustainable
agriculture, industry stewardship and genetically engineered animals, will
be key topics of discussion at the Biotechnology Industry Organization's
(BIO) 2008 International Convention.

Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the 2008 BIO
International Convention will take place Tuesday, June 17 through Friday,
June 20, 2008 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.

"In light of the recent food shortage and growing concern about the future
of our climate and our planet, the food and agriculture track at this year's
BIO International Convention is especially timely," said Sharon Bomer
Lauritsen, executive vice president for Food and Agriculture at BIO. "These
sessions are always popular, but we believe they will be a particularly
large draw for attendees this year. The sessions provide a great opportunity
for the industry's leadership to come together to discuss solutions for
these national and international challenges."

Food and agriculture sessions titles include:

. Sustainable Agriculture in Africa
. Biotech Crops in Centers of Origin: The Case of Corn and Mexico
. Agbiotech in Asia: How Biotech Cotton Changed and Biotech Rice Will
Change the Face of Agriculture in India and China
. Commercializing Genetically Engineered Food Animals
. Global Stewardship Practices
. Growing Solutions to Climate Challenges: How Agricultural
Biotechnology Can Help Crops Flourish With Less Water
