Is President Bush’s diplomacy too one-sided? Over the last seven years, has the United States neglected its traditional allies? Should our next president make a special effort to repair relations with Europe?
When the latest edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac came out last fall, it predicted drier-than-normal weather for the corn-growing states in 2008. I’ve never placed much stock in these super-long-range forecasts. The meteorologists often can’t even tell me if it will be sunny on Saturday, let alone what the rainfall will be like in July and August.
Surely you’ve heard that 2008 is the year of a presidential election here in the United States, as well as the year of the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Personally, I hope that 2008 will be a good one for the St. Louis Cardinals, whose season gets started on Monday.
