I cannot accept that GM is the solution or even part of it. Not since they have become patentable. This puts companies such as Monsanto, the worst of them as far as I am conserned, in the position of having a monopoly on crop seeds that are immune to herbicides. There is also the chance that genes that give the GM's resistance to herbicieds might be transfered to weeds, making them immune to herbisides.

I am not suggesting that GM' are necessarily bad, only that having companies that are motivated by profit only having control of them may prove to be a disaster.
