If NAFTA and CAFTA are so successful in the countries where the trade agreements have been implemented, why has the rate of poverty increased in these countries? The money for the small farm owners and workers has not increased; rather profits benefit the multi-national corporations or the governments of these countries. I have seen the effects of these trade agreements in Latin America and know first hand the poverty.

And a question that is never asked is why people from Mexico and other Latin American countries come to try to provide for their families back home? They are not able to make a decent wage for living. We are enablers of foreign governments keeping poverty as a standard as well as hurting our own American workers.
